Why Use Nordic Steel?

NORDIC STEEL'S PIER ANCHORS ARE MINIMAL EXCAVATION, PERMANENT FOUNDATIONS

What is a minimal excavation foundation? A construction technique that minimizes disturbance of the natural soil profile within the footprint of the structure.  Why is this important?  Because traditional, poured in place, concrete foundations are expensive, time consuming and environmentally disadvantageous for many reasons.  Although poured and cured concrete seems like the most stable, ad durable type of foundation types, this is not the case, there are better, more practical, more environmentally sound, and cost effective methods, ours is one of them.

How do minimal excavation foundations work? Structural loads are transferred from a beam through a pin, pile, or post system, which preserves the natural drainage patterns of the soil underneath the structure, minimizing hydraulic or seepage pressure upon the foundation, and minimizing the environmental impact of pouring a permanent concrete monolithic foundation system.

Whether used in a below grade, basement foundation, or a raised, crawl space, elevated pier foundation, Nordic Steel Patented Pier Anchors can make the foundation as strong and as durable as a poured in place concrete foundation,  saving you money and valuable time.

How do Pier Anchor Foundation Systems save money? They reduce consultant costs for preparing grading and drainage plan, reduces excavation costs for constructing a continuous foundation. Controls cost of heavy machinery on job sites that are not easily accessible. Reduces cost to transport fill and / or concrete to the building site. Reduces costs to transport excavated waste fill off site.  Eliminates costs of constructing trenches or dry wells.

Where can minimal excavation foundations be used? Nearly anywhere an in many more places where concrete foundations cannot be used due to cost, location, climate and environmental concerns.   Pier Anchors can be used for many other applications, besides residential or commercial construction, i.e: boardwalks, foot bridges, decks, ground-mounted solar panels, barns, signage, fencing, observation platforms, pavilions, sheds, etc.

Why NORDIC STEEL Pier Anchor Foundation Systems are GREEN, the Environmental Benefits minimizes soil compaction and site disturbance from heavy equipment and machinery preserves rainwater infiltration and subsoil water flows Allows rainwater to flow more naturally at shallow soil subsurface level.

Why use a Pier Anchor and Post Frame system?

Post Frame structures were established years ago as an inexpensive method to construct a building for purposes not extremely important.  These were used primarily for agricultural storage and purposes. With today’s technology and innovation, post frame buildings can be used for anything any other building methods are used for. Since the creation of permanent foundation methods for post frame, post frame buildings are routinely used for homes and offices.

Since post frame is less expensive than conventional framed, your home will be less expensive when constructed as a post frame building and not conventionally. The building will last just as long if not longer as a conventional framed building , but will cost less.

Your post frame home does NOT have to look like a “pole barn”. With countless new and beautiful exterior
finishes and materials available, your home will be indistinguishable from any other new home, if not look a lot nicer however, it will also be a more durable and stable.

What is Post Frame and must I use Post  Frame construction to use Nordic Steel?

Post-frame construction is an engineered wood-frame building system that meets all UBC and IBC standards. And NO! You do NOT need to use Post Frame to take advantage of the cost savings and mega durable benefit of using Nordic Steel, it is merely another, option we offer.

Post-frame buildings feature large, solid sawn posts or engineered  laminated columns instead of wood studs, steel framing, or concrete masonry.

The posts transfer loads to the ground, and these are commonly made out of  ground treated engineered lumber.

Post-frame structures are more quickly erected than other kinds of buildings. Because the larger posts and the interlocking frame can handle greater loads than stud-wall construction, fewer structural materials are needed, which saves time and other costs. Also, because posts are spaced farther apart than studs, post-frame buildings feature an exceptionally large wall cavity and provide ample room for insulation, lowering heating and cooling costs throughout the life of the building.

Almost any type of exterior façade may be installed on post-frame buildings, which can be designed to meet the highest standards for quality and aesthetics. Post-frame construction is an efficient and economical option for low-rise applications and is now the construction method of choice for any number of commercial, industrial, municipal, residential, religious, and agricultural projects. *
