What is a minimal excavation foundation? A construction technique that minimizes disturbance of the natural soil profile within the footprint of the structure.  Why is this important?  Because traditional, poured in place, concrete foundations are expensive, time consuming and environmentally disadvantageous for many reasons.  Although poured and cured concrete seems like the most stable, ad durable type of foundation types, this is not the case, there are better, more practical, more environmentally sound, and cost effective methods, ours is one of them.

How do minimal excavation foundations work? Structural loads are transferred from a beam through a pin, pile, or post system, which preserves the natural drainage patterns of the soil underneath the structure, minimizing hydraulic or seepage pressure upon the foundation, and minimizing the environmental impact of pouring a permanent concrete monolithic foundation system.

Post-frame construction is an engineered wood-frame building system that meets all UBC and IBC standards. And NO! You do NOT need to use Post Frame to take advantage of the cost savings and mega durable benefit of using Nordic Steel, it is merely another, option we offer.

Post-frame buildings feature large, solid sawn posts or engineered  laminated columns instead of wood studs, steel framing, or concrete masonry.

The posts transfer loads to the ground, and these are commonly made out of  ground treated engineered lumber. 

Post-frame structures are more quickly erected than other kinds of buildings. Because the larger posts and the interlocking frame can handle greater loads than stud-wall construction, fewer structural materials are needed, which saves time and other costs. Also, because posts are spaced farther apart than studs, post-frame buildings feature an exceptionally large wall cavity and provide ample room for insulation, lowering heating and cooling costs throughout the life of the building.
